Gosia Bates

Master Dog Trainer

Gosia has lived around animals all her life and volunteered with horses and dogs since her teenage years. In 2010 she joined Dogs and the City – the company which she currently owns – and she hasn’t looked back ever since.

She offers dog training services: puppy socialisation and training classes, obedience classes for adult dogs on different levels, private puppy and dog training sessions, semi-private obedience classes for adult dogs (in small groups of 2-3) and behaviour consultations, as well as group dog walking, puppy and small animal visits. Gosia currently studies at the Cambridge Institute of Dog Behaviour and Training and also attends various seminars and workshops with renowned trainers and behaviourists to keep her professional knowledge up to date. Gosia also runs training classes under the Kennel Club Good Citizen Dog Scheme.

She firmly believes that training methods should be matched not only to particular dogs’ temperaments but also to their owners’ skills and abilities and therefore she does not support one fit-for-all training philosophy but approaches every situation individually instead. She also believes that a dog’s happiness and well-being is at the centre of her work.

Gosia shares her life with two rescue dogs: Ivan the GSD, who came from a Polish charity and makes an invaluable helper during training sessions and Mia the pocket-rocket Staffie from Battersea Dogs Home, two very brave and dog proof cats – and more often than not with a foster dog looking for a forever home.
