Jim has trained dogs for many years in various aspects and levels of obedience.

Jim has always been keen on training puppies and particularly helping their owners on how to get it right from the start. He particularly likes to hear from people before they purchase a puppy to assist them in choosing the right breed for their circumstances. He strongly feels it is these early stages that are key to mapping out a dogs’ potential future, albeit good or bad.

Jim feels puppy training is a real area that needs to be addressed. He therefore offers 3 puppy training classes, puppy beginner, puppy improvers and puppy advanced to keep puppies and owners motivated and moving forward with their learning and discipline.

In more recent years his training has covered an area which has become of particular interest to Jim – Rally O. Having both competed in this relatively new sport with his own dogs and also trained others, this is a discipline that Jim would love to see developed further and introduced into more clubs.

As well as group training, one to one and home visits, Jim is also available to offer specialist help in teaching deaf dogs and has experience of owning and training a profoundly deaf dog himself. In addition to this, with the assistance of his daughter who is British Sign Language qualified, he can help owners with hearing impairments also train their dogs. Working with hearing impaired dogs and/or owners is an aspect of training that Jim finds most rewarding.

Jim also has sound knowledge of the Kennel Club Good Citizen Scheme at all levels, having trained all of his own dogs to Gold standard as well as assisting many others to also achieve these prestigious awards.
