Hakan has always had a fascination with dogs and many years ago endeavoured to understand their language, behaviour and most vitally how to change unwanted behaviours. His research revealed the often misunderstood language of dogs and their importance within the ‘owner-dog’ relationship. He deals mainly with ‘problem’ dogs and feels very comfortable in reforming aggressive behaviour as he was surrounded by aggressive dogs in his young and formative years, dealt with aggression when he was training to become a dog behaviourist and has focused on dog aggression during his studies with the Cambridge Institute. Behaviour problems whether mild or extreme are mostly reformable and are very often caused by mis-communication rather than inherent characteristics of the dog or intended behaviour by the owners.

Hakan has reformed and trained around 100 dogs to date and prides himself on the positive feedback from his clients. He has an MA from the University of Cambridge, has obtained the Highest level Certificates available from the Cambridge Institute (including ‘dog on dog’ as well as ‘dog on person’ aggression) and believes in continued learning as part of his everyday life.

With his company ‘Trusted Paws’ he offers 1:1 consultations, home visits, assessments and general obedience training for dogs of all ages and breeds. His practice borders a golf course on one side and the South Downs on the other – ideal to test learned techniques outside with other dogs and distractions and obedience from a distance! Hakan charges once and helps until the problem has been resolved to the satisfaction of his clients. He is in high demand and it is recommended to book in advance.
