Lucy Nolan
Lucy is the founder and head trainer at Adhara Dog Training, specialising in both working gundogs in the shooting field and pet gundogs whose owners want to nurture their natural abilities. Lucy offers a calm, practical, and results-driven approach, focusing on clear communication, consistency, and real-world training that translates from the training ground to everyday life. Whether developing reliable field skills or providing a constructive outlet for intrinsic behaviours, Adhara Dog Training delivers effective, educational, and motivational training that builds trust, reliability, and enjoyment for both dog and handler.
Gundogs have been part of Lucy's life from birth. Her family always kept Spaniels as working dogs, and she spent her childhood captivated by their intelligence and skill. As soon as Lucy was old enough, she joined her dad on shooting days and fell in love with seeing dogs work in real-life scenarios. Even today, during the shooting season, you’ll often find Lucy in the beating line with her Spaniels, putting training into practice.
Gundogs are intelligent, clever, and born with natural working instincts. With the right approach, they can also make brilliant pets. Training is about creating a balanced, harmonious relationship between human and dog—not forcing behaviour. Many gundogs are strong characters, and Lucy's role is to help owners understand and harness their dog’s natural instincts to achieve the best possible outcomes, whether that’s for companionship or working on a shoot.
Lucy's approach is calm, patient, and fun. She aims to help you get the very best out of your dog while enjoying the process. Combining over 20 years of customer-facing experience with a passion for dogs, Lucy works to ensure owners feel confident and supported while their dogs thrive.
