Nick has always believed that dogs deserve more than just basic training. In his work, the focus is on helping dogs live lives that are fulfilling, enriched and suited to who they are as individuals, rather than simply meeting minimum expectations of obedience or control.

Nick does not subscribe to rigid training systems or fixed schools of thought. Instead, his approach is grounded in understanding each dog’s emotional state, needs and motivations, and selecting welfare-priority, outcome-focused techniques that support meaningful, lasting change. Training is designed to build trust, confidence and clear communication between dog and handler, with an emphasis on skills that function reliably in real-world environments.

For some dogs, progress may involve exploring new environments or developing confidence outdoors. For others, it may be as simple as learning to move calmly and comfortably through familiar spaces. Nick works with owners to define what success looks like for their dog and supports them in achieving it at a pace that is realistic and sustainable.

Nick has studied with the Cambridge Institute of Dog Behaviour and Training, where he has completed advanced professional training in dog training instruction, canine behaviour and aggression studies. Alongside a lifetime of experience with family dogs, he has also completed over a hundred hours volunteering as an Assistant Coach with Dogs Trust Dog School and continues to support a local independant as a volunteer. In addition, Nick contributes to the Advanced Dog Owners Initiative by serving on its steering committee.
